The One With The Cananasi’s Roof (2/19/2013)

A few weeks ago (and yes, I am just now getting around to writing a blog about it… sorry) there was a huge storm. Deafening downpours as the rain beat against our tin roof and frightening wind made it so loud that Dahlia and I couldn’t even hear each other talk.  Four trees were knocked over in the village, thankfully no one was hurt.  But as the storm began to calm the bell at the primary school, which, keep in mind, is directly across from our house, began ringing… and ringing… and ringing… for no less than an hour straight.  An emergency town meeting was being called.  Evidently our neighbors, the Cananasi’s, roof blew off.  And the meeting was being called to determine what the village should do.  It was decided that they would move into an abandoned house nearby so everyone pitched in to clean it up.  People in the village mean what they say when they tell me that no one has to face a problem on their own.  Any issue is a village issue.
